Activate “Creator” mode on LinkedIn
On LinkedIn, you have surely noticed, not all the profiles you can find are the same. In particular, for some people outside your network, you have the option of sending them a request to join their network (“connect”), and for others, you have the option of “following” them.

Note Bene: Goodbye creative fashion: LinkedIn is rethinking its content strategy! 🚀
Surprise! LinkedIn has just dropped a bombshell: Designer Fashion is bowing out. No more preview posts and custom hashtags that were your trademark. But don't worry, it's not the end of the world for content creators!
Why this change? LinkedIn wants to focus on what really matters: quality content and a simplified user experience. No more special modes, make way for a more intuitive platform for everyone!
But wait, that's not all! LinkedIn has more than one trick up its sleeve for content creators. On the agenda: new, even more efficient tools, training to boost your skills and detailed analyses to refine your strategy. The objective? Helping you shine even brighter on the platform! 💪
So, are you ready to take on the challenge of a new generation of LinkedIn? One thing is certain: authenticity and commitment will be the key words of this evolution. To your keyboards, creators!

On LinkedIn, you have surely noticed, not all the profiles you can find are the same. In particular, for some people outside your network, you have the option of sending them a request to join their network (“connect”), and for others, you have the option of “following” them.
Here is an example with my profile:

Although one does not prevent the other, this new way of operating on LinkedIn is very similar to other networks such as Instagram, Twitter or even TikTok, and that's the whole point!
Through this new type of profiles, LinkedIn thus allows its most active users to develop their personal branding, as well as their influence on the platform by creating a community.
“But Morgann, if I didn't want to be an Instagrammer, why should I care about designer fashion on LinkedIn? What are its advantages? Its differences? How do you do it?”
Great question Watson! And the good news is that you are in the right place to find all the answers:
Why activate “creator” mode on LinkedIn?
Going into “creator” mode is a way to announce to the platform and to the other members of it that you are creating content on one or more favorite subject (s). It shows that you share your opinion, knowledge, experiences, experiences, successes and potential failures in your field.
By creating content on a recurring basis, on the most efficient ones, you will have the opportunity to gain visibility with an audience outside of your current network. If your content interests this new audience, and if this audience decides to go check out your profile, they will have the opportunity to follow you more easily, and thus follow your next publications.
In addition to facilitating the increase of your follower base, your content will be valued by LinkedIn, which will give you slightly more visibility than a traditional profile.
Activating creator mode will thus allow you to strengthen the visibility of your profile, to help you develop an audience, but also and above all, in the end, to demonstrate your professional expertise to a growing audience, and to position yourself as a reference in your field.
This will result, if you persist in a coherent content strategy, in boosting your acquisition of prospects, customers, and therefore sales (and yes, we were not going to forget the best for the end 😏).
As you can see, we are not that far from Instagrammers who share promotional content, except that here, the product is you. And LinkedIn is a great tool for developing your personal branding. And the potential to develop yourself as a freelancer, entrepreneur, business manager, or other person is enormous!
What more does designer fashion bring?
Now that you know what it's all about, the real question becomes, what is really going to change? The good news is that LinkedIn has some interesting surprises in store for profiles that activate creator mode, previously inaccessible to traditional profiles.
1. The “Connect” button is replaced by a new “Follow” button

You now get more subscribers and more relationships (which allows the relationship not necessarily to be a two-way street). There are four things to remember from this first change:
- A subscriber will see your content in their news feed but you won't see theirs
- You are not connected with your subscribers so you cannot contact them by private message
- The number of subscribers is public information that is visible to everyone who visits your profile.
- Your network is no longer limited to 30,000 relationships, because the number of subscribers is unlimited. You will therefore no longer have to worry about the maximum relationship limit, which is 30,000 members for classic profiles.
Rest assured, it is always possible for people you want to connect with (and therefore follow their posts, exchange by message, etc.) to send a classic connection invitation. To do this, simply click on “More” and then on “Connect”

2. A visible and clickable link added to the top of the profile

One of the most interesting elements of the “creator” mode will be the number of external links that can be added to your profile, the first being at the top of your profile. This link thus allows you to directly redirect to external content, such as your website or your agenda to make an appointment with you. The “creator” profile could therefore very well be renamed the “entrepreneur” or “freelance” profile, because it allows LinkedIn to be used as a real acquisition tool.
3. Your content is highlighted
With the “creator” mode activated, the layout of your profile will change slightly to highlight your content. A new “Selection” section will appear, and the “Activity” section will be raised higher in your profile (above your “Info” section).
In addition to being updated, the “Activity” section will be expanded, and therefore take up more space, thus highlighting your created content.

4. Up to 6 external contents/links highlighted in the “My Selection” section
The “My Selection” section is added at the top of your profile above the “Activity” section, and it can now contain up to 6 pieces of content of your choice.
In this section you can choose to highlight:
- A post that particularly worked to establish your credibility
- An external link, to your website, your offers, your blog,...
- A link to your Linkedin Newsletter (to be discovered below)
- A link to a LinkedIn article
- A photo or video
For my part, I only chose a link to our website, but you are free to put several.

This new “Selection” section thus allows you to control much better what you want to highlight in the personal window that your LinkedIn profile becomes.
5. 5 favorite topics highlighted in the form of Hashtags

In creator mode, you say “create content.” So now you have the option to add 5 hashtags in order to present the favorite topics that you discuss and on which you will regularly publish content, sharing your expertise, your successes or your learnings.
Preferred topics also play a role here, to give a kind of “teaser” of the next content that the person could find by following you.
6. Access to advanced tools (Newsletter, Linkedin Live, Statistics)
LinkedIn Newsletter
By activating creator mode, you have the opportunity to create your own Newsletter directly on LinkedIn. This is a feature that is only available in “creator” mode.
Users who subscribe to your Newsletter will receive a notification each time a new article is published. It's a new way to demonstrate your expertise and position yourself as an expert in your field.
LinkedIn live
You have the opportunity to broadcast video content in real time. Thanks to the new “Live” button, you will be able to broadcast live content.
Statistics
By switching to “creator” mode, you have access to new statistics to better understand your audience and develop an effective strategy.
1. A progression curve of your audience in order to see what content has increased your number of subscriptions.
2. Access to a breakdown of your followers by job title, location, sectors, seniority, company size and company name.
3. Access to 3 most successful posts in terms of impressions or engagement over a selected period of time.
These new statistics thus give you access to the data you need to analyze what works best and adjust your content strategy accordingly.
If you have followed this far, chances are you are now wondering how you too can access all these benefits offered by LinkedIn? It's happening over here 👇
